This position is responsible for safety, efficiency, quality, scheduling and execution of construction work in Chevron facilities. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the ability to provide effective on site guidance of construction activities related to small project construction work executed by local contractors. They will insure conformance with safety policies, project plans, and enforce design and construction codes (e.g. welding code and inspection techniques, NDE methods, MCBU Design Guidelines, MCBU Standards, Chevron Engineering Standards, SID, Safe work practices, etc.) and should be familiar with SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), PTW (permit-to-work) systems, JSAs (Job Safety Analysis), risk mitigation plans, contractor safety and safety work processes related to construction activities.
This position is responsible for working with engineering and operations groups to prioritize and plan project work to reduce operating downtime and optimize production by aligning the facilities with the current production needs. A knowledge and understanding of constructability and operability for input to the design of new facilities or upgrades is desireable. This position will be a contributor to the developing and mentoring of new Facilities Engineering employees.
Construction Representatives may work at any of Chevron’s operations and Chevron’s Project Resources Company. Mobility is encouraged as there are many opportunities for Chevron Construction Representatives to work in a variety of assignments; initially at different domestic locations and then possibly international locations later in their careers. Asset Support - Support Upstream plants/fields working in multi-functional teams to manage the overall operational business. Construction Representatives may be assigned to a multi-functional team working within an Upstream plant or field. These positions support the execution of development and operating plans for the asset. They work with other functional groups to determine asset needs, manage capital and/or expense budgets, oversee small project design and construction, and support operational needs. Typical projects could include installation of oil, gas and water production, separation and injection facilities. They execute repairs, additions and new installations of tanks, vessels, compressors, pumps, piping, power distribution and computer controls. They are responsible for various aspects of small projects, including project identification and scoping, estimation of labor and material costs, cost tracking, interfacing with plant/field operations, and turnover and start-up of facilities. Operational support roles focus on assuring facility integrity, reliability and optimization of production. These activities may include system troubleshooting, facility testing and de-bottlenecking.
Project Support – Support Major Capital Projects in a Technical or Project Engineer role.
Construction Representatives may be assigned on a Major Capital Project, generally a project which is critical to the company and is expected to cost >$1 B. These assignments manage specific technical packages of work to meet required Project specifications and timing, and build Project Management skills (e.g. framing, design, cost/schedule, construction).
Position may require driving on a routine basis
- Students completing the last year of the requirements for their Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate degree in Construction Management or Construction Engineering or individuals with a Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate degree in Construction Management with two years or less directly related work experience.
- GPA – 3.0 or above
- Strong academic performance in core programs, communication, leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
- Experience as field / fab yard representative for one discipline (structural, mechanical, electrical,instrumentation) for an area of a project.
- Familiar business principles and their application to projects (i.e. ife cycle cost, ROCE, IRR, Cash Flow, NPV, EV, etc.).
Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.
