Position: Clinical Assistant Professor of Bands
Non tenure track, 10 month appointment. Initial appointment is 3 years.

Duties: Clinical Assistant Professor of Bands will have shared responsibilities for coordination of instruction in Purdue’s Jazz Department which is part of Purdue Bands and Orchestras in the College of Liberal Arts. This includes:
- Coaching various jazz combos, directing big bands and departmental/university required record keeping
- Serve as primary conductor for up to four of the six jazz bands
- Assist in coordination of big band and jazz combo concerts and performances
- Assist with the operation of the Purdue Jazz Festival
- Additionally the candidate will teach one section of Jazz History in the division of Design, Art and Performance
- Additional departmental duties may be assigned by the Director of Bands as deemed necessary.
Qualifications: Candidates for the position should possess solid jazz background, with teaching experience in the area of instrumental music. Minimum requirement is a Master’s Degree in an appropriate area music/jazz related field. Knowledge of jazz pedagogy and improvisation are critical. Solid performance ability on a wind or rhythm section instrument is expected as well as evidence of strong organizational skills.
